An evolution of its own: the development of Christmas

It's the time of year when we once again spend time and money preparing to do things we don''t really understand except that they're part of our tradition, they can be fun (somehow), and they give us opportunities to eat, drink, give gifts and meet people we haven't seen for ages. 

Euro-American Christmas is one tradition with many branches. It's interesting to see the divergence of traditions across Europe, and of course nowadays Christmas is celebrated in many other places beyond these two continents, which add their own variations.
