It's a sign of the world we live in, but nowadays when people talk about their holidays one feels that going somewhere calm and safe is a priority. During the last year there have been attacks on holidaymakers in Egypt and Tunisia, and Paris, the leading tourist city of Europe, has been attacked too. Freedom of movement, and means of travel, are generally better than they used to be, but places close to us that are luxurious or exotic have become more, rather than less, risky.
