One nice phrase in the Czech language is the 'cucumber season'. Surprisingly, there isn't an equivalent in English that I know. The English don't have the summer for it. The Americans are work-obsessed and wouldn't like the concept if they understood it. The Canadians are too serious for it. The Australians relax all the year round. So, the cucumber season communicates to me the sort of 'leisure in the sun-warmed countryside doing nothing serious, perhaps joking, perhaps lazing', a kind of psychological state which Czechs are capable of, even talented for, best exemplified in the movie 'Rozmarné léto', which, even if you don't follow every piece of dialogue, is spectacular in
